Interviewer: What was your favourite, most memorable Libertines moment?

Interviewer: What was your favourite, most memorable Libertines moment?

Carl: Well, you can look at that in two ways really...the most memorable thing and the most special thing, on a sort of level of things done in my life is Reading and Leeds 2010, where it was just everyone who was into it sort of came out of the woodwork, and we had a massive amazing thing..

Interviewer: Cause there were rumours weren't there? That you were going to get the band together for the closing Olympics ceremony, maybe you were going to start writing again. Is there any truth in any of that?

Carl: Yeah. If it's meant to happen, and when it's meant to happen, it'll happen. But right now I'm happy to be back doing what I love and not feel like I've got sort of weights, that I've had on me before, from my previous bands or relationships. I feel like I'm cut loose now and I'm free to do anything. If that means that I'm going to return to doing the Libertines or something then maybe that will be the case. But this is a really important step for me anyway.

"Recently, when I got out of the elevator at my usual hour, it occurred to me that my life, whose days more and more repeat themselves down to the smallest detail, resembles that punishment in which each pupil must according to his offense write down the same meaningless (in repetition, at least) sentence ten times, a hundred times or even oftener; except that in my case the punishment is given me with only this limitation: "as many times as you can stand it."

- Franz Kafka, (via substantia-nigra)
